Future Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose mission is to lead wayward teens to realize their specific purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens come to Future Men from across the country, including from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and often find it valuable to experience a new environment away from local peer groups.
Spiritual life is the cornerstone component of Future Men. We are dedicated to introducing every student to Jesus Christ to lead them toward their gifting and purpose in Christ. Many teens who attend have moved away from their spiritual heritage or have never professed belief in Christ, and FM offers an open environment for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer permeate everything we do at Future Men.
Future Men exclusively serves troubled or troubled boys. In addition to helping capable students learn to apply themselves academically, we provide specific leadership training to unlock the potential in each student. We teach teens to serve and love others. Mission trips and community service projects provide real life experience and application of the leadership principles demonstrated at FM.
Future Men is a fully accredited high school that employs a program of independent study with personalized instruction. Students complete courses at their own pace, with weekly objectives set by teaching staff based on the student’s program of study. Courses are offered for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also supports students to work toward post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.
FM recognizes that teens and their families today face huge challenges from the culture. Teens are impacted by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which believes that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they devote themselves to the positive values of helping and caring for others.
Outdoor activities at FM are designed to contribute to leadership development and character maturation as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every student is asked to participate in adventure activities because of the important values that can be learned.
