Seeking out a school for troubled boys in Des Plaines, Illinois? Perhaps you will look at Future Men, an affordable boarding school in Missouri known for its commitment to at-risk adolescent boys who have wandered away academically, emotionally, legally or relationally.

boys homesFuture Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose calling is to lead wayward teens to realize their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens come to Future Men from across the country, including from Des Plaines, Illinois, and often find it constructive to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.

Christian Discipleship

Spiritual life is the cornerstone aspect of Future Men. We are committed to introducing every student to Jesus Christ to lead them toward their gifting and purpose in Christ. Many teens who attend have dismissed their spiritual heritage or have never professed faith in Christ, and FM offers a safe place for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer surround everything we do at Future Men.

Leadership Training

Future Men exclusively serves troubled or troubled boys. Besides helping capable students get back on track academically, we present specific leadership training to unleash the potential in each child. We teach teens to serve and love other people. Mission trips and community service events offer real life experience and application of the leadership principles demonstrated at FM.

Academics

Future Men is a fully accredited high school that employs a program of independent study with personalized instruction. Students complete courses at their own speed, with weekly goals established by instructors based on the student’s program of study. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also supports students to prepare for post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.

Positive Culture

FM knows that teens and their families today face huge challenges from the culture. Teens are assaulted by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which believes that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they embrace the positive values of serving and caring for others.

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor activities at FM are designed to play a role in leadership development and character growth as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every student is asked to play adventure activities  because of the important values that can be learned.
