Looking for a school for troubled boys in Rockford, Illinois? Perhaps you will consider Future Men, an affordable boarding school in Missouri known for its dedication to at-risk adolescent boys who have made poor choices academically, emotionally, legally or relationally.
Future Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose purpose is to lead wayward teenagers to realize their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens come to Future Men from across the nation, including from Rockford, Illinois, and often find it constructive to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Spiritual life is the foundational aspect of Future Men. We are dedicated to introducing every teen to Jesus Christ to help them find their gifting and destiny in Christ. Many teenagers who come have rebelled against their spiritual heritage or have never professed belief in Christ, and FM offers an open environment for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer frame everything we do at Future Men.
Future Men exclusively works with troubled or troubled boys. Beyond helping capable students learn to apply themselves academically, we provide specific leadership training to unleash the potential in each child. We teach teens to serve and love others. Mission trips and community service opportunities give real life experience and application of the leadership principles learned at FM.
Future Men is a fully accredited high school that uses a model of independent study with tutelage. Students complete courses at their own speed, with weekly objectives set by tutors based on the student’s chosen course work. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also encourages students to prepare for post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.
FM recognizes that adolescents and their parents today face huge challenges from the culture. Teens are surrounded by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which asserts that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they embrace the positive values of serving and caring for others.
Outdoor activities at FM are designed to contribute to leadership development and character maturation as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every teen is encouraged to try adventure activities because of the important values that can be learned.
