Searching for a boarding school for troubled boys in Birmingham, Alabama? Perhaps you will consider Future Men, an affordable Christian boarding school in Missouri known for its devotion to at-risk adolescent boys who have wandered away academically, emotionally, legally or relationally.
Future Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose mission is to lead troubled teenagers to realize their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens come to Future Men from across the country, including from Birmingham, Alabama, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Spiritual life is the foundational aspect of Future Men. We are committed to introducing every student to Jesus Christ to lead them toward their gifting and destiny in Christ. Many teenagers who attend have moved away from their spiritual heritage or have never professed belief in Christ, and FM offers a safe place for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer surround everything we do at Future Men.
Future Men exclusively serves troubled or troubled boys. Besides helping capable students get back on track academically, we provide specific leadership training to unlock the potential in each student. We teach teens to serve and love others. Mission trips and community service projects offer real life experience and application of the leadership principles demonstrated at FM.
Future Men is a fully accredited high school that operates under a program of independent study with personalized instruction. Students complete courses at their own speed, with weekly goals established by tutors based on the student’s chosen course work. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also encourages students to prepare for post-secondary goals by offering assistance with SAT and ACT testing and college applications.
FM knows that adolescents and their families today face enormous pressure from the culture. Teens are assaulted by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which believes that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they embrace the positive values of serving and caring for others.
Outdoor activities at FM are designed to contribute to leadership development and character growth as part of a holistic approach to development. Every student is encouraged to participate in adventure activities because of the valuable life skills that can be learned.
