Future Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose calling is to lead troubled teenagers to fulfill their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens arrive at Future Men from around the country, including from Lafayette, Louisiana, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Spiritual life is the foundational component of Future Men. We are dedicated to introducing every student to Jesus Christ to help them find their gifting and destiny in Christ. Many teenagers who come have rebelled against their spiritual heritage or have never professed faith in Christ, and FM offers an open environment for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer surround every aspect of life at Future Men.
Future Men exclusively serves troubled or troubled boys. Beyond helping capable students learn to apply themselves academically, we present specific leadership training to unleash the potential in each child. We teach teens to serve and love other people. Mission trips and community service opportunities offer real life experience and application of the leadership principles learned at FM.
Future Men is a fully accredited high school that uses a model of independent study with personalized instruction. Students complete courses at their own pace, with weekly objectives established by teaching staff based on the student’s program of study. Courses are offered for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also encourages students to work toward post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.
FM knows that adolescents and their families today face huge challenges from the culture. Teens are surrounded by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which states that young people can learn self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they become committed to the positive values of helping and caring for others.
Outdoor activities at FM are designed to play a role in leadership development and character maturation as part of a holistic approach to development. Every student is asked to try adventure activities because of the important values that can be learned.
