Future Men in Missouri is an evangelical non-denominational Christian boarding school and leadership academy. It is an early intervention school whose calling is to lead struggling teens to achieve their individual purpose, or destiny, in Christ. Teens come to Future Men from around the country, including from Topeka, Kansas, and often find it valuable to experience a new environment detached from local peer groups.
Christian Discipleship
Spiritual life is the foundational characteristic of Future Men. We are committed to introducing every teen to Jesus Christ to lead them toward their gifting and destiny in Christ. Many teenagers who come have dismissed their spiritual heritage or have never professed faith in Christ, and FM offers a safe place for them to take ownership of their faith, perhaps for the first time. Bible study, worship, and prayer frame everything we do at Future Men.
Leadership Training
Future Men exclusively serves troubled or troubled boys. Besides helping capable students get back on track academically, we provide specific leadership training to unlock the potential in each teenager. We teach teens to serve and love other people. Mission trips and community service events offer real life experience and application of the leadership principles demonstrated at FM.
Academics
Future Men is a fully accredited high school that uses a program of independent study with personalized instruction. Students work through courses at their own speed, with weekly goals established by tutors based on the student’s program of study. Courses are available for all levels, up to Honors and AP classes. FM also supports students to prepare for post-secondary goals by helping them prep for SAT and ACT testing and applying for colleges.
Positive Culture
FM acknowledges that teenagers and their families today face enormous pressure from the culture. Teens are impacted by a barrage of negative peer pressure. The FM model for change is called Positive Peer Culture (PPC), which believes that teens can develop self-worth, significance, dignity, and responsibility only as they become committed to the positive values of helping and caring for others.
Outdoor Activities
Outdoor activities at FM are designed to play a role in leadership development and character growth as part of a teenager’s development as a whole person. Every teen is asked to play adventure activities because of the important values that can be learned.
