Short answer: costs vary widely by the type of program. At Future Men, tuition is $6,300 per month. There is a one-time $2,000 nonrefundable admission charge that is not credited toward tuition. Emergency placement is an option when placement within 24 to 48 hours is a requirement, for an additional $1,500. Acceptance is still determined by our admissions team and bed availability. Families may withdraw at any time without notice, and tuition and fees are not refunded. Many programs do not list a price online, so this guide explains what drives cost and what to ask.

Why prices are so hard to find

Many residential programs for struggling teens share their price by phone rather than online. Often that is because the cost depends on the student and the services he needs. Knowing what drives the price makes it easier to compare programs side by side. Future Men publishes its tuition and terms, so you can decide with confidence.

What drives the cost of a residential program

  • Clinical staff. Programs that employ licensed therapists, psychiatrists and nurses cost substantially more. Residential treatment centers and therapeutic boarding schools are usually the most expensive options.
  • Staff-to-student ratio. More adults per student means a higher cost.
  • Campus and amenities. Large campuses, horses, sports programs and elaborate facilities add up.
  • Academics. An accredited school costs more to run than a correspondence program.
  • Marketing. Programs that pay heavily for advertising and referral services pass that cost on to families.
  • Length of stay. Monthly price times months enrolled is the number that really matters.

What to ask about the price

When comparing programs, ask whether the quoted price includes:

  • Room and all meals
  • Academics, curriculum and transcripts
  • Mentoring, counseling or therapy (and by whom)
  • Activities and outings
  • Vocational training
  • Transportation during the program
  • Medical visits and prescriptions
  • Enrollment fees and deposits, and whether they are refundable or applied to tuition
  • What happens to money already paid if you withdraw

Price matters, but the terms behind the price matter just as much.

Item Amount and terms
Monthly tuition $6,300 per month
Admission charge $2,000, one time, nonrefundable, not credited toward tuition

A typical stay is 9 to 18 months. Admissions can walk you through billing for your son’s start date and length of stay. Tuition is billed monthly through the secure parent portal, where families can pay by bank transfer or card.

Ask admissions for the full enrollment terms before making a decision, and ask about anything not listed here, such as travel or medical costs.

Every week at Future Men, your son gets all three: Christian discipleship with men who live on campus and hold him accountable every day, accredited academics with an individual plan where he earns high school credits and works toward a diploma in hand, and a trade apprenticeship at a local business every Tuesday and Thursday.

Are there free or low-cost options?

Some faith-based programs are subsidized by donors or churches, and some families use church benevolence funds, extended family or savings. Be cautious with any program that seems unusually cheap: ask the safety questions below, because a low price sometimes means low staffing or low oversight.

The questions that matter more than price

Price matters, but safety and fit matter more. Before paying anything, ask:

  1. Is the program registered or licensed with the state?
  2. Does every adult pass background checks?
  3. How and when can parents talk with and visit their child?
  4. Who accredits the academics?
  5. What happens if the program is not working for my son?
  6. What are the refund terms if we withdraw?

Future Men’s answers are on our safety page, our family communication page and our tuition page.
